Work Experiences
Research Assistant at Systems Optimization and Computing Laboratory (SOCL) - Led by Gino Lim, Ph.D.
Januray 2025-Dec 2027 (expected)
• Healthcare optimization: Formulate mathematical models and semi-exact algorithms for radiation therapy planning with UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, optimizing beam angles to spare organs-at-risk and mitigate lymphopenia.
• Algorithm design: Develop custom exact-heuristic algorithms in Python and Gurobi for large-scale, binary-constrained NP-hard mixed-integer programs (MIPs) across energy and healthcare projects.
• Riemannian ADMM: Designed a novel algorithm that generates binary solutions in large scale MIPs, cutting run times by up to 95% on challenging MIPLIB benchmark instances with optimality gaps below 9%.
• DRL-guided cutting planes: Co-developing a GNN-based TD3 actor-critic framework to select Chvátal–Gomory cuts and speed up branch-and-bound gap closure (ongoing).

Research Assistant at Urban, Transportation, Informatics and Logistics Laboratory (UTIL) - Led by Zhijie Sasha Dong, Ph.D.
August 2022-May 2025
• Stochastic modeling: Built multi-period, two-stage stochastic programs for microgrid investment and operation under demand and generation uncertainty across three DOE-funded initiatives; implemented BD with B&B in Gurobi to solve large scenario trees.
• Distributed optimization: Modeled distributed microgrid energy trading as an integer-constrained, multi-objective problem and solved it with Lagrangian relaxation and a customized ADMM, improving system resilience measured in load lost by 17% and cutting cost by 36%.
• Predictive-prescriptive pipeline: Designed a Seq2Seq model with bidirectional GRU and attention mechanism to forecast power-demand quantiles (~0.17 MAE, ~4% MAPE), feeding probabilistic forecasts into downstream stochastic models.
• Stakeholder reporting: Prepared monthly technical reports for project directors, summarizing model results and project progress across three DOE-funded initiatives.
Voluntary Experiences
Vice-President at INFORMS UH Student Chapter
(2026-2027)
As VP, I co-lead chapter activities and events, co-organize professional development workshops, and help coordinate regular seminar meetings.

President at INFORMS UH Student Chapter
(2025-2026)
As President, I lead chapter activities and events, organize professional development workshops, delegate responsibilities, and coordinate regular officer meetings. I oversee budgeting, manage partnerships, and drive strategic planning to grow the community, enhance chapter visibility, and strengthen industry connections. I have organized multiple events, including student research presentations, PhD growth workshops, meetings with faculty from other universities, webinars on job hunting, and upcoming sessions on data science careers for ISE students.

Social Media Coordinator and Webmaster
(2023-2025)
I manage the chapter’s social media platforms, including LinkedIn and Instagram, creating targeted content to boost event attendance and member engagement. I design graphics, schedule posts, and track engagement metrics to expand the chapter’s online outreach.
